My postdoctoral research training was funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI). I conducted all aspects of intervention research aimed at preventing chronic diseases and promoting healthy lifestyles: grant writing, study design, recruitment of study participants, screening for eligibility, consenting participants, intervention implementation, data collection, data entry, data analysis and communication of results at scientific conferences and through reports to funders and publications in peer-reviewed journals. I also performed secondary data analysis an large, previously gathered data sets.

Assisted in the development of a pilot study to implement a worksite wellness program for faculty and staff at Qassim Universtiy.Travelled to Saudi Arabia twice and made presentations on numerous occasions to Qassim University faculty members and employees of the Ministry of Health and local healthcare providers. Met with male and female faculty members and conducted small group discussions.Coordinated visits by Qassim University faculty members to California on three occasions, arranging for bilateral exchanges of information and ideas between Qassim University faculty members and SPRC faculty and staff.Assisted with the development of grant proposals submitted by Qassim University faculty members to internal funding sources within Qassim UniversityReviewed numerous study protocols and provided feedback for improvementCoordinated a 3 month on-line training course in basic research methods. Qassim University faculty members presented text book knowledge in country and researchers from SPRC presented applied knowledge and expertise gained through their own research endeavors.
