Sanjay is a Criminologist and avid Communicator based in the Oresund region (Copenhagen, Denmark & Malmö, Sweden).He obatined PhD in Public health science, global health, social medicine and epidemiology (Faculty of Medicine) where he used epidemiological and criminological methodology e.g., Statistical Analysis with large databases, to conduct research on neighbourhood crime, ill health and immigration.Sanjay has also consistently demonstrated social, academic, and philanthropic excellence in Jamaica and abroad. Between 2013 and 2014, Sanjay secured four top awards from the Caribbean Media and Broadcasting Partnership and the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. After receiving his master’s in criminology in 2019 he was also awarded a distinction for his master’s thesis ‘Between a Rock and a Strange Place: Fear of Crime and the Well-being of Deported Migrants in Jamaica’. The qualitative thesis was conducted in Jamaica through a grant obtained from Malmö University.In 2019, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs recognised him as a ‘top innovative and entrepreneurial student who is an excellent representative of his own country as well as Sweden.’ And awarded him the prestigious Global Swede award. His most recent activities involve using digital media and communications to help students struggling through university, he hosts the podcast Wise Grad: Helping Students Thrive which had over 2000 listeners from 40+ countries in the first 12 months. Through the brand Wise Grad and his experience on and off the stage he also utilizes his creative freedom to develop content, workshops and info-sessions on effective brand and science communication. Now, thanks to the real stories and solid advice from relatable people, Wise Grad has become a platform for online mentorship that's closer to home than other student-oriented projects.
