Thus Himalaya becomes a crucial domain to study and understand these diverse complex tectonic processes.In Seismology, using natural signals of earth, we are able to unravel these subsurface complexities, originated during the formation of the earth.However, using earthquake as a natural signal, I am studying the frequency dependent attenuation characteristics of the body waves in the the northwestern part of the Himalaya, which will help to understand that how the seismic waves travel along the medium.Also the time space pattern of earthquakes explains the changing behavior of the seismic stresses in a region . Estimating good quality of hypocentral parameters helps in delineating these zones. A good velocity structure is therefore required to deal with it. With the help of local network in the study region I am trying to study the 2D/3D velocity structure.
