  The Relay For Life of San Mateo brings together people from all over the San Mateo Community for a 24 hour event that symbolizes a day in the life of a cancer patient; since cancer never sleeps, neither do we. Participants take turns walking around a track for 24 hours. There are ceremonies throughout the event that celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers, honor those currently battling cancer, and remember loved ones lost. There are onsite activities and fundraisers (zumba, yoga, bake sales, dodgeball, etc.), entertainment, raffles, silent auctions, and more. All money raised supports the research, education, advocacy, and services of the American Cancer Society. Our very first Relay was in 2012 and we raised $25,000. Every year we have raised more and more money (almost $30,000 in 2013 and over $33,000 in 2014).
