A large part of my technicolor lens on the world of design derives from my parent’s craftsmanship, as they both creatively translated the world through their hands. My father, a fourth-generation carpenter since the age of 14, carved, shaped & bled life into the art of woodworking. My mother, a former factory seamstress, wove, stitched, & looped hard work into every garment sewn.I’m proud to say that I am now forever bound to the thick Saguaro taproots, grounded in the mountainous terrain that raised them. Through my recent trips to their homeland in Puebla, MX, I’ve uncovered generations of design in my family. More than anything, I’ve gained a profound appreciation for design that, while generations old, remains contemporary in our times. This, in turn, has deepened my curiosity about architecture, particularly how space and materiality can be used to foster deeper connections with the world, with a dedicated emphasis on design rooted in history.During my years at Stanford, I appreciated product design as a medium for transmutation of life, world needs, expression, & creativity. Now, I am excited to continue to pursue this passion in architecture, leveraging my background in product design to create innovative & thoughtfully designed spaces.
