Sustainable Development and Corporate Social ResponsibilityWorked with Centre for Policy Research for Scaling City Institutions for India (Sci-Fi) project in its various activities.

As Programme Leader, led a large-scale disaster response and rehabilitation project in the state of Uttarakhand. The project has successfully restored livelihoods of 6000 disaster-affected families thereby building resilience against any possible disaster. As part of multi sectoral approach the programme has also invested in building community institutions and capacities thereof, building water supply schemes, early child care interventions, rebuilding community infrastructures etc. Systemic procedures and protocols have been set to ensure efficient financial management, stakeholder engagement, partnership management and monitoring of the programmes encompassing 100 plus villages across 3 districts.

As Advisor – Community Relations, effectively led a team of development professionals to deliver strategically designed Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Relations Programme of the Rio Tinto, Bunder Diamond Project in Madhya Pradesh. This involved strategic decision making towards aligning programmes with company’s Global policies and IFC performance standards. Key partnerships were forged to deliver on critical community needs based on social development projects. To achieve the vision of inclusive growth, several plans were executed to develop local business opportunities linked with the mining operations. Executed a number of social and economic studies necessary for moving to the advanced stages of mine development. Overall, methodical engagement processes and life changing development programmes gained requisite traction and drew community support for favourable opinion in a Government led Public hearing forum organised to validate Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Led the Training Systems Group and played a multi-faceted role in some large projects of the organisation. This included management of large scale capacity building initiatives for 660 grassroots organisations implementing the Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) Programme funded by DFID; as National coordinator for a UNDP funded project, led Participatory Livelihoods Livelihood assessment across 21 districts in 3 States with 17 CSOs. The entire learning was further developed as handbook for social development practitioners. Other roles included develoopment of a model village, As social expert monitored a large number of watersheds in 3 districts of Madhya Pradesh for MP Government under Rajiv Gandhi Mission for Watershed Management. Engaged in action research project for a USAID project on ‘Livelihood avenues for trafficking prone communities in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh’. contributed in development of a renewable source based distributed generated electricity project for the neighbouring villages of NTPC in Rihand, Uttar Pradesh.

Coordinated and monitored activities undertaken by partner organisations, organised demonstrations and capacity building initiatives for government agencies and officials, research organisations and other stakeholders. District level showcasing of project through a widespread 35 day awareness campaign and ensuring supply chain management of farm produce were key achievements of the assignment.

As team leader responsible for overall management including both programme and financial management of SWAJAL project funded by World Bank in Uttarakhand.
