In my position as Cataloging Librarian I create original catalog records for monographs, audiovisual, and electronic formats as well as copy catalog all formats. New library materials are classified using Dewey Decimal, ANSCR and local classification schemes. I perform authority work and contribute to NACO. In the fall of 2021 I became a full participant of SACO. I proofread MARC records and call numbers.I frequently collaborate in database quality control projects and maintain our local online authority file. I review, update and create workflows and local documentation of Dayton Metro cataloging practices. These tasks help ensure that all cataloging staff has access to information to do their jobs effectively and efficiently. Mentoring and guiding the copy catalogers is an important part of my job. I also train new employees on cataloging audiovisual materials and electronic formats.

I have been copy cataloging, processing, and shelving monographs, journals, and digital materials using ResourceMate ILS Software. In addition to cataloging, I am also preparing the physical space and the layout of the library in preparation of its opening.

My main project in RBSC has been cataloging different types of media, including realia, pamphlets, and books in multiple languages, using OCLC Connexions and Innovative Millennium. I have also organized information concerning new acquisitions - making an inventory list, taking immediate preservation steps, and determining a collection's worth for internal use only using ABE Books.

I am currently processing part of Congressperson Elizabeth Johnston Patterson's congressional papers, following the established archival guidelines to create a series hierarchy. I am developing a finding aid and biographical/scope note to go along with an existing finding aid. I created the March exhibit on display in the public gallery titled "Women in Power," and was a guest blogger on SCPC's blog giving a little more insight into the two women I chose to showcase.

While working at SCL, I registered new researchers and provided information about the library to library users. I would demonstrate equipment use, such as microfilm readers and scanners, and help with basic search techniques. I processed incoming copy requests for research materials using an overhead book scanner and a digital microfilm machine. I would re-house selected items using archival quality materials and techniques, and re-shelf published materials following the library's cataloging system.

As a graduate assistant on duty on evenings and weekends, I would assist patrons at the reference desk, and demonstrate proper use of various technologies within the library. I would register new library users, answer any questions about the catalog, and circulate materials using Innovative Millennium.

As a graduate assistant for Dr. Jennifer Marshall, I gathered instructional materials for use in graduate level courses; I researched academic journals and articles in support of publishing efforts; and I updated the Blackboard course management system on a weekly basis.
