With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit management, Sara Patterson is a dedicated leader committed to driving change through innovative solutions and community engagement.Sara’s career began at 18 when she co-founded a humanitarian aid organization focused on international poverty relief efforts. Currently, as Development Manager at Empower Missouri, she plays a key role in growing the organization’s fundraising initiatives to address poverty across the state, focusing on affordable housing, food security, and criminal justice reform.Before joining Empower Missouri, Sara served as Project Coordinator at Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC), where she led initiatives to improve self-sufficiency, mental health, and community resources across 10 counties in southwest Missouri. She also spearheaded projects addressing food deserts, built partnerships to combat food insecurity, and led teams focused on suicide prevention and mental health first aid.Sara’s passion for mental health advocacy is reflected in her certifications, including as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor for both youth and adults, and a QPR Gatekeeper Instructor. She has also facilitated programs such as Poverty Simulation, Reality Enrichment and Life Lessons (REALL), and Vocational Opportunities Inspiring Children in Elementary (VOICE), showcasing her commitment to youth empowerment, career development, and anti-poverty advocacy.In addition to her professional roles, Sara has served on multiple boards and subcommittees, including the Emergency Food and Shelter Local Board for Webster County and the Advisory Board for the Missouri Job Center in Springfield.
