As a School Psychology Intern with Boston Public Schools, I support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of students through assessments, targeted interventions, and collaborative problem-solving. Under the supervision of an experienced school psychologist, I provide direct support to students and consult with educators and families to help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging school environment. My work includes conducting psychological and academic assessments, implementing social-emotional learning strategies, and assisting with individualized education planning. I am passionate about fostering resilience and promoting positive behavior, helping students thrive both in school and beyond.

Starting in July 2020, I've embarked on the journey of learning to teach English as a foreign or second language. After a health setback, I'm back on track to completing my practicum hours for the course and thus completing my certification! It is my intention to eventually teach English as a second language in the Boston area. I also hope, when COVID allows, to travel and live temporarily in a Latin-American country (hopefully in Xela, Guatemala with the Pop Wuj language school) in the near future to revitalize and enhance my Spanish language skills. It is my goal to use those skills to amplify the voices in our community that typically go unheard in an effort toward positive social change.

Serving students in Dedham High School's "Alternative Program" a therapeutic sub-separate program within the school that supports students with Individualized Education Programs. The role involves working with special education students with a wide range of issues, including learning disabilities, conduct disorders, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. I have the pleasure of working alongside both sub-separate and general education teachers, partnering with them to make modifications and accommodations as outlined in each student's IEP. I am often the link between the students' general education teachers and their special education liaisons, collaborating to ensure that each student makes progress based on their particular goals and objectives. This allows for each liaison to get the most accurate information when reporting out and communicating with parents on their student's development. I also participate in IEP meetings, providing written input to the team so that they can determine the most appropriate services for our students. My role also provides the opportunity to build relationships and trust with students that don't often have positive adult relationships, and that is by far, the most rewarding part of the job, and a large part of why I am seeking a Masters and Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology.
