My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Davis in Animal Science, and a Master of Science in Marine Mammal Science from the University of St Andrews. Though my personal interests focus on marine mammals, my education and experience has given me a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of biological science. The knowledge base I have garnered through my education is comprehensive, well rounded and includes the understanding and sometimes firsthand experience in various forms of data collection, a strong base in statistics and quantitative skills for the analysis of data, and the ability to present polished conclusions professionally in a number of different forms. Most importantly, I have the research ability, critical thinking skills, and flexibility (not to mention enthusiasm) to learn that allows me to remedy any gaps in this knowledge.Working in diverse environments has allowed me to collaborate directly with a wide variety of people, from professional scientists and engineers to the general public. For example, in an academic setting I have presented information in the form of scientific articles, technical reports, posters, and environmental impact assessments. My work has been cited in peer-reviewed scientific publications as well as technical reports provided to the US Navy. In a less academic arena, I worked as a bus driver/tour guide at the San Diego Zoo. At this job I strove every day to further improve my tour to educate and inspire all manner of guests, from the already dedicated environmental zealot to the mildly interested visitor. As an assistant instructor for a Chinese physical culture class at UC Davis and an event planner and volunteer coordinator when a Gold Award Girl Scout I possess the foundation for managing a variety of stakeholders.Currently, I am enrolled at National University and earning my Teacher's Credential (single-subject). I am seeking full-time employment as a high school life science teacher.
