Sarah oversees the implementation of Sustrans’ behaviour change programmes, supporting sustainable travel choices for children, young people and adults throughout the South of England. Sarah represents Sustrans on a number of behaviour change programme boards/steering groups and has a keen interest in the health benefits of active travel and the integration of behavioural change projects with walking and cycling infrastructure schemes. She identifies business opportunities, writes project proposals and tender responses, initiates new projects, develops travel behaviour change methodologies, co-ordinates development work and project delivery, manages budgets and builds partner relationships. Sarah line manages a team of Delivery Coordinators - who supervise teams of project officers working in schools, colleges, workplaces and communities - and Volunteer Coordinators, overseeing Sustrans’ volunteer programme in the South. Programme Manager, Smarter Choices, across South East of England (2011-2016)Sarah worked predominately alongside local authorities, but other project partners and funders included Public Health, European Regional Development Fund, Big Lottery, People’s Health Trust, and a small number of charitable trusts. Sarah was responsibile for overseeing the delivery of a portfolio of up to 20+ behaviour change projects in the South East.
