About Sarah Mayer

Drawing from a robust educational background and over a decade of hands-on engineering experience, my journey in the rapidly evolving fields of Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering has been an exciting exploration of innovation and real-world application. My academic background includes a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Honours Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo. My undergraduate years were marked by a focus on manufacturing methods, including hands-on projects like programming a robotic manipulator and designing an innovative patient lift system to aid individuals with mobility challenges. Transitioning into the field of Biomedical Engineering, I embraced the opportunity to fine-tune my skills and knowledge in Clinical/Rehabilitation Engineering and Medical Device Commercialization, culminating in a Master of Engineering degree. In my professional career, I excelled as a manufacturing engineering specialist at MPIQC and later as a Systems Designer at Zimmer Biomet, where I played a key role in sustaining projects related to the ROSA Recon Platform and ROSA Knee applications. In addition to my professional endeavors, my love for music and storytelling drives my creative pursuits. During my free time, I enjoy making piano solo arrangements of jazz, pop, and rock songs, and I am also writing a comic book, which I would like to publish in the next 10 years to encourage more women in engineering. Through these activities, I aim to foster inspiration and empower a diverse community within the engineering field and beyond.Competencies: Computer-Assisted Design (CAD), Manufacturing Methods, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiment (DOE), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design Control (ISO 13485), Risk Management (ISO 14971)

Listed skills include Solidworks, Autocad, Autodesk Inventor, C And C++ Languages, and 19 others.
