Certified Medical Coder
Current• Codes all requested Inpatient records using the most accurate and appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS assignment in accordance with coding guidelines• Abstracts, codes and assigns necessary demographic and clinical data elements required• Maintain reports on a weekly and monthly basis to providers and directly associated staff• Communicate with providers and other staff on weekly basis, about outstanding items and required corrections• Distribute monthly audit reports and answer any questions or concerns that arise about the reports from providers• Train individual providers and staff if needed to specific coding requirements and organize and led formal training sessions for groups of providers on common issues• Resolve discrepancies on coding related issues• Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations• Uses available research and reference tools to understand the disease process and diagnosis• Utilize Microsoft Office suite and EHR software proficiently to support coding activities and documentation processes• Meets and provides data to physicians, and other management staff regarding reports, denials and monthly numbers• Interprets physician documentation within the coding guidelines and obtains clarification from physicians• Prepares other written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes and projects information for required records, reports and statistics as directed
