North American Production Control Engineering

My externship consisted of 80-hours of online learning, including insights and advice on business, leadership, and career topics. I completed entry-level training in human resources, finance, advertising, media, and technology, communication and leadership.

I am working with a physics professor and one other undergraduate student to create new labs for the physics classes at Maryville College. The labs are relating to electromagnetism, solar energy, one and two dimensional motion, and other concepts. I attended project meetings to brainstorm and collaborate on challenges and findings. The STEM Success Center is an academic support component at Maryville College. As a mentor, duties include providing learning strategies and consultations to students that focus on learning styles, textbook strategies, note-taking skills, test preparation, and test-taking strategies. These consultations are facilitated weekly to assist younger students in reaching their academic goals.

I worked within the Enterprise Process Improvement team as a Work Measurement Intern. Through shadowing, I explored the different components of the team and observed how work moved through the team. I collected time studies for multiple projects; in one project, I was able to collect over 500 time samples in 3 weeks that was predicted to take a month and a half. Through the team, I was certified as a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and participated in several day-long Kaizen events.
