    Initially employed as Civil Estimator, my motivational and team leadership skills as well as a detailed understanding of the wider requirements of tendering resulted in my promotion to the new role of Pre-Contracts Support Manager. My key responsibilities within this role were the management of the life cycle of multiple concurrent bids and ownership of the production and timely delivery of resulting tender and EOI submissions – typically between five and fifteen at any one time across four states through the co-ordination of a team of approximately twelve members of staff. In addition to ensuring appropriate resourcing of each bid via co-ordination of the teams’ workload, I was required to personally bid manage and write a number of proposals.Other functions include: • Departmental induction and training to new members of staff.• Assisting team members to problem solve and provision of any required training.• Team liaison with all other York Civil departments. • Communication with client representatives and post tender debriefs. • Input and co-ordination of marketing collateral. Key Achievements | Early in my employment with York Civil, I identified several key areas for potential improvement within the management procedures for the department. After discussion with my line manager, it was agreed that I should develop a new set of procedures incorporating my suggestions. I was then responsible for rolling out the new procedures and training the rest of the team on their correct application and use. New elements included the implementation of “Kick Off” and “Mid Bid” meetings, standardised submission templates and libraries of resources, formalisation of team roles and responsibilities and creation of the role of Bid Manager. The implementation of the new procedures produced increased efficiency within the team and resulted in increased output.
