Team leader for actuarial team within the regulator. My main focus is working on DB scheme funding cases on schemes ranging up to several £bn, contributing to policy development and highlighting strategic issues and potential solutions and leading the actuarial team. The scope of the actuarial team encompasses support and provision of expertise on both DB and DC issues. I also sit on the DB management team working with the Executive Director on strategic and operational issues.

Leeds

I worked with Mercer where I trained as an actuary and qualified whilst working there. As part of my time at Mercer I was fortunate to take part in a secondment to Chicago, USA. In addition I was able to take a year sabbatical to travel the world. In terms of work experience whilst at Mercer - I worked on everything from actuarial valuations, advising corporate and trustee clients on scheme funding and general pension risk management. I also led projects in relation to benefit reviews, corporate accounting work for pension schemes, M&A transactions and higher earner advice. My role also encompassed a "People" role in the last 18 months of my job at Mercer. This entailed being in charge of all the HR type issues within the Leeds office, in particular coordination of the performance reviews and mentoring.
