In this position, I helped to oversee the National Recruitment Department at Grassroots Campaigns in conjunction with the National Recruitment Director. My primary responsibilities included many of the duties that I had honed through my time in my previous positions there, as well as focused on the running of a nationally-coordinated college recruitment program. I was also responsible for coordinating and training upper-level management staff in candidate recruitment, evaluation, and hiring procedures as I travelled extensively, interviewing potential staff and making bottom-line hiring decisions myself. Along with the National Recruitment Director, we created and successfully implemented a training plan for a staff of 10 in order to hire staff for the Presidential campaign season. We also wrote all departmental manuals and created and managed departmental budgets.

I worked to support the Canvass Director in the Portland, OR outreach office. My main responsibilities included recruiting canvassers from the local community (postering, flyering, networking, etc.), interviewing prospective staff and making hiring decisions. I also ran trainings regarding canvassing/fundraising and recruitment skills, working with the staff in both individual and group settings, while going into the field myself, canvassing and meeting personal fundraising standards.

After the election in 2006 through the spring semester of 2007, I was a Roving Recruiter responsible for recruiting graduating seniors into positions with GCI through direct outreach to campuses primarily on the East Coast. This included, but was not limited to, career fairs, professor and student outreach, presentations to interested parties, travel to campus and networking in person.

Us

In the fall of 2006, I worked on MoveOn.org's groundbreaking Call for Change campaign. I traveled to Portland, OR, helping to run phone banks doing GOTV work mainly through recruiting, training and managing networks of volunteers. Volunteers were based in their homes as well as traveling into our central-Portland office, therefore challenging our strategy and efficacy as organizers.

Us

In my first role with GCI, I was a Recruiter specializing in resume generation (and advertising/networking strategy) and evaluation, candidate outreach and evaluative interviews. Our team was responsible for hiring Canvass Directors for our outreach offices and Field Organizers for the mid-term election season.
