I work with a variety of businesses and organizations on design and marketing projects. Past clients include Homeless Garden Project (design of branded folders and supporting collateral for their Pogonip fundraising campaign), Santa Cruz Heritage Food Project (layout design and print coordination for their 2017 book, Harvesting Our Heritage), Point Santa Cruz Strategies (logo design and complete brand identity—including business cards, web design, signage, merchandise, and more), and Cruz for Homes (e-newsletter template design).

As CCOF’s visual communications and brand identity expert, I was responsible for consistent brand application across all visual communication channels. I provided CCOF with creative concepts and designs for a wide variety of publications, collateral, campaigns, special events, and other projects. I supported the marketing department in consulting our organizational clients on effective and strategic solutions from concept to final product. I managed the CCOF website content and functionality, tracked and reported web analytics, and coordinated with the technology department on website development. I managed our website redesign project; coordinating with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and our technology department.

I supported CCOF with graphic design for a wide variety of projects, including our quarterly print magazine, annual print directory, and new trade show booth. I helped finalize the new CCOF brand identity, and I managed our internal brand audit project, which involved taking inventory of every piece of the organization’s collateral to determine all places requiring updates, using a master tracking document to ensure ongoing version control, and working with other departments to find new opportunities to implement updated branding. I performed various marketing tasks and attended trade shows.

I supported the CCOF marketing team with graphics production for a wide variety of marketing communications, publications, special events, and other projects. I managed a consumer awareness/fundraising campaign project, “Pesticides Bug Me!”, which included creating a campaign design and coordinating with copywriters and an external website developer.

Upon completion of my internship, I was offered the position of Marketing Assistant. I worked closely with the marketing department preparing for consumer events and trade shows, writing for and editing the quarterly magazine, maintaining and updating several pages of the CCOF website, and contacting sales leads and assisting potential clients with questions about the organic certification process. I gave intern training presentations and aided the intern team in completing tasks.

As part of the CCOF internship program, I completed 240 hours assisting the marketing department with various projects designed to promote CCOF's mission. Duties included planning for trade shows and events, creating marketing tools and literature, writing and editing articles, and researching various topics. I was responsible for following and logging CCOF press coverage. For my internship project, I created a comprehensive packet to help CCOF clients navigate the application process to receive funding from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), which reimburses some of the costs of organic certification.

My opening shift (4 a.m.) responsibilities included preparing all coffee and food items: grinding coffee beans, prepping produce, making breakfast burritos, etc. My closing shift responsibilities included cleaning the entire shop: sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables and chairs, finishing any remaining dishwashing, sanitizing all appliances, bleaching/sanitizing all food surfaces, cleaning the bathroom, re-stocking cups and serveware, etc. This role required constant multi-tasking between preparing espresso drinks and drip coffee, preparing food items (sandwiches, bagels, burritos, saladsm, smoothies, etc.), keeping produce and serveware stocked, maintaining a clean work space, and interacting with customers and making them feel welcome. I developed a great rapport with regular customers, and was frequently relied upon to train new employees.

I contacted Bank of America customers across the country to conduct phone interviews regarding customer satisfaction and forwarded complaints or problems from customers to Bank of America officials. I made hundreds of phone calls daily, aiming for highest efficiency without sacrificing quality, and logged customer responses in an internal database.
