The Zip-Purr, a 50 foot catamaran that launched from Ka'anapali Beach, sailed daily across the Au'au' Channel between Maui and Lana'i. During the winter, I led interactive humpback whale watch tours. We typically saw mother and calf pairs, a range of competitive behaviors between males seeking mates, and an array of various communication displays such as breeching and pectoral fin and peduncle slapping. In the summer, I led snorkel tours where we observed the Hawaiian coral reef ecosystem up close, often times seeing endemic species (species that live only in Hawai'i).This was the best job I have ever had because everyone (literally everyone across all ages,ethnicities, and backgrounds) loved being in the water and learning about the beautiful animals and plants of Maui. Each day was a new, happy, and rewarding experience.
