About Sarang S.

sarangATquincyinstDOTorgI work primarily in geopolitics/international relations/grand strategy with the Global South and Asia as a particular focus. Climate change is another important area of my work, with a special emphasis on climate security and prior research on the energy transition.I am Director of the Global South Program at the the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, and was previously Director of Studies there. I am also member of the adjunct faculty at George Washington University where I teach a class on the geopolitics of climate change, and non-resident fellow at the Council on Strategic Risks. I have published in The New York Times, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, The Nation, Financial Times, South China Morning Post, Responsible Statecraft, The Diplomat, Council on Foreign Relations, and other key outlets. I have also been quoted in The New York Times, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Washington Post, Nikkei Asia, Foreign Policy, and Japan Times among others, and interviewed live on television on BBC, CNBC, ABC (Australia), and others. In a previous life I was a thermal/fluids engineer and product manager in the software world dealing with Fortune 500 clients in the electronics industry across three continents and also served as a vice-chair of the international standards body of the electronics industry. This has given me the ability to transcend disciplines and "connect the dots" as well as do deeper, individual work on a specific problem statement.
