Providing AWS Solutions Architect services with Terraform and CloudFormation

DCM - Provides advertising for 83% of the UK cinema market. I managed the digital transformation of the business, integrating a new scheduling platform into 450+ cinemas and 2900 cinema screens across the UK. We migrated our core scheduling platform to Amazon Web Services cloud in 2013. For our mainstream business tools, we have moved to Office365 and Microsoft Azure, with disaster recovery being covered by Azure Site Recovery. Not only have we connected into the 450 cinemas, we collect data from each of these sites and projectors digitally, to enable us to schedule and manage campaigns efficiently. I manage technical supplier relationships for the business and I am responsible for technical development, infrastructure and services within DCM. Over the past few years I have overseen the evolution of technology at DCM into a contemporary, flexible and cost effective platform.

Playphone - Provided mobile content sites and subscription services. The infrastructure and software we put together allowed high volume subscription marketing to connect mobile subscribers to the content services and connected the associated mobile numbers to mobile payment services. We connected to mobile aggregators across 24 countries in Europe, Asia and Australia, and ran mobile sites in a variety of languages. The platform was based on Open Source technology LAMP stack on the front end with Java on JBoss, Hibernate and Websphere MQ on the backend. Analytics were provisioned through SAS and Sybase IQ. We exploited SCRUM development methods to improve application development cycle time and quality.

Initially I began as a contract Sybase DBA but after gaining my Solaris Adminstration Certification and RedHat Certified Engineer qualification, I was given the opportunity to apply my Systems Administratiion knowledge. This gave me opportunities in managing and applying systems standards from the bare metal, through to middleware using IBM Websphere MQ and Apache Tomcat, through to Sybase ASE and Replication Server.

I was brought in to implement the Sybase ASE and Replication server architecture to support the website for the UEFA Euro 2000 football tournament. Running on SUN Solaris, the database platform had to support phenomenal website hits, and supported both the OLTP and DSS queries. I also assisted in the design and implementation of the disaster recovery implementation.
