Duties include: planning and teaching differentiated learning for a year 2 class which consists of a majority of EAL learners including new-entrants to the country and school, as well as children on the autistic spectrum; Direction of class-based support staff; Carry out formative and summative assessment; Management and maintenance of a positive and motivating learning environment while observing the principles of cognitive load; Liaising with and reporting to parents; Safeguarding and ensuring the health and well-being of all children; Promoting inclusion and inclusive practice; Implementing school policies and upholding and reinforcing school values and ethos.In this position, I also held middle leadership responsibility for Computing & Design and Technology. This role requires me to raise the profile and standards of practice in my subject areas through monitoring planning and teaching, offering support through modelling good practice, delivering CPD training and managing learning resources. During the pandemic, I lead various technological projects such as renewal of technology (renewed tech infrastructure), deployment of a large stock of devices for use by children for remote learning, training and supporting the school community in the effective use of online learning platforms and management of devices. I was also responsible for procurement in my leadership role involving the handling of budgets. I also led the review and renewal of the school’s behaviour management policy and practices.
