In conjunction with our teaching, we conduct industry-focused research in Information & Communications Technologies and Mathematics through our four research centres; The Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics which brings together researchers in pure and applied mathematics and work with industry on a broad range of research and consulting projects including: optimal train control ad train scheduling, forecasting renewable energy generation, minerals processing, and management of water catchments. The Advanced Computing Research Centre maintains a number of relationships and links with prominent Australian and international IT organisations; working on cutting edge research across intelligent software engineering, security and information assurance, data analytics and business intelligence. The Phenomics and Bioinformatics Research Centre aims to enable fundamental advances in biological science through the development and application of mathematical, statistical and computational technique. One of the primary undertakings of the PBRC is research in biomathematics, biostatistics and bioinformatics to support the biological studies being undertaken by plant scientists. The Institute for Telecommunications is an internationally recognised research group specialised in research and technology development fir wireless communication, including both fixed and mobile, satellite and terrestrial based applications.We believe our research in ICT & Mathematics enables, drives and often disrupts other disciplines delivering significant commercial and practical benefits for our State and Australia.
