These arrangements include plans, committees, response capabilities and a program to tie all of these elements together.During a local disaster event, the LDMG facilitates cooperation between all relevant agencies and emergency services. Adrian led the Local Disaster Management Group during the 2022 Brisbane Flood. This was Brisbane’s biggest-ever three-day rain event with more than 20,000 properties across 177 suburbs impacted by a combination of river, creek and overland flow flooding. This flood disaster prompted the biggest-ever clean up of the city, with more than 60,000 tonnes of flood-impacted belongings removed from over 3000 streets during a special kerbside collection. Council’s response to the flood was independently review by Paul de Jersey, AC, CVO, KC (26th Governor of Queensland and former Chief Justice of Queensland). In summary, the review found that “Council’s approach has served the people of Brisbane very well.” -
Brisbane 2032 Olympic Candidature Leadership GroupBrisbane City Council Jul 2019 - Jul 2021Brisbane, Qld, AuThe Brisbane 2032 Olympic Candidature Leadership Group (OCLG) coordinated and delivered the successful bid for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The OCLG consisted of representatives from Local Government, State and Commonwealth Governments as well as the Australian Olympic Committee. This work culminated in a delegation to Tokyo in July 2021, where Adrian joined the QLD Premier, Federal Minister for Sport and John Coates to formally present to IOC Members. On 21 July 2021, IOC Members voted to officially approve Brisbane as the 2032 Host City. -

Chairman, Brisbane Parking TaskforceBrisbane City Council Jun 2014 - Apr 2016Brisbane, Qld, AuIn June 2014, Lord Mayor Graham Quirk asked Adrian to Chair the newly-established Brisbane Parking Taskforce, with the aim of advising Council how to best manage on-street parking into the future. The Taskforce included representatives from RACQ, P&C’s Queensland, National Retail Association (NRA), Multicap, Taxi Council Queensland, Transport Workers Union (TWU), Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ), Parking Australia and Brisbane Transport. Over a period of around 6 months, the Taskforce completed the most comprehensive review of on-street parking in Brisbane's history. More than 1,100 public submissions were received and the Taskforce made 55 recommendations to improve Council’s policies and practices related to parking. Recommendations included:> introduction of free 15 minute parking in all metered parking spaces outside of the CBD, and 1100 spaces in Council’s King George Square and Wickham Terrace car parks (CBD), to encourage greater turn-over of parking spaces and improve parking availability > investment in integrated parking technology, including the introduction of the Cellopark mobile phone application> improved parking signage for traffic areas and loading zones, and a trial of parking schedule signage to make it easier for motorists to identify on street parking spaces> enhanced parking management around schools and in residential areas to improve safety and access to parking. -
