Seth Shultz will serve as a Data Center Architect and deliver DC Infrastructure Standards and Design. He will be responsible for driving the Data Center IT infrastructure roadmap into 2021 and beyond as chairman of the newly created Engineering and Architecture Council.

Domestic and Global Infrastructure Support for FD Data Centers:Responsible for performing design support for Data Center Projects requiring Infrastructure supportLE will participate in planning meetings as needed to fully understand the infrastructure requirements for a project. LE will utilize current technology and FD Standards to create a connectivity design that will meet the infrastructure requirements. The design will include:Connectivity – materials, media, components, BOMConnectivity – installation points, diagram (Visio/DCIM) Testing/Design Performance limitsDocumentation – create supporting documentation and file in a department designated shared site (Confluence DCS/Projects Site)Provide the Design/Connectivity planPerform question/answer for project support with site DCS Engineer POC’sMaintain understanding and comprehension of current and directional infrastructure technologiesProduct and Industry knowledgeCurrenct on all product/industry standardsFuture direction awarenessResponsible for Infrastructure CapacityLE will pro-actively manage capacity touch points within the Data Center Infrastructure as well as respond to requests for capacity analysis and expansionDevelop tools (DCIM) and communications to manage Infrastructure capacities (ZDA’s, MDA’s, Critical Patch Panels)Maintain PR/PO/BIR documentation and provide expense analysis and breakouts as requiredMaintain monthly expense trackingProvide DCS Dept budgeting information on Infrastructure spendingProvide positive cost controls and competitive vendor pricing for all expendituresMaintain and control Infrastructure Testing DevicesKeep warranties/contracts in forceKeep testing equipment calibrated and inspected/maintained to always allow for availability Provide training of DCS and other FD personnel in the proper use of infrastructure test equipment.Provide training and/or guidance to vendors to properly follow FD Infrastructure support/testing requirements.

PURPOSE – to achieve a level of standardization across FD Data Center Sites globally in the area of infrastructure and connectivity architecture. Primary responsibility is to provide current and forward looking connectivity solutions achieving maximum performance and cost efficiencies. These solutions will be aware of the requirements and technical direction plans of the Compute, Network and Storage platforms by directly engaging with the Engineers from those platforms and effectively sharing information; output from this will include infrastructure solutions that will meet/exceed the need of the Compute, Network and Storage user platforms. The resulting solutions will be high performing with simplified/standardized levels of support (locations, documentation, etc).SCOPE - FD Data Center sites intra building infrastructure supporting Compute, Network and Storage connectivity; support of Telco platform is a secondary component of the scope. This function is intended to lay out the connectivity infrastructure; Device connectivity should follow the designed infrastructure plan and does not need to have the Engineering role involved.The Lead DCS Infrastructure Engineering role will be responsible for researching current technology options, understanding FD requirements by interfacing with other department Engineering teams (i.e. Compute, Storage, Network) and creating solutions to be implemented. The solutions will include the necessary components and installation plan to achieve consistency and standardization. This role will be the owner of product selection and designs to be used in infrastructure solutions to be implemented in FD Data Center locations.
