Creator/Director "Lights Out London" Climate Action Event

London, England Metropolitan Area

While Program Director of Capital Radio London, it became obvious that the revitalised Capital Radio needed an iconic "all-London" event to eclipse the expensive, resource-draining, and dated teen-pop concerts of the 90s. Al Gore had made Global Warming mainstream, and it was on the agenda for 2007's G8 summit. The zeitgeist was perfect to create "Lights Out London".Capital Radio's "Lights Out London" campaign was one of the world's first climate campaigns promoting awareness through encouraging switching off unnecessary lights. The 6 week campaign culminated in millions of Londoners, businesses, and organisations switching off unnecessary lights at 9pm on the longest day of the year, Thursday June 21.A discussion in UK Parliament led to a vote supporting the participation of the Houses of Parliament. Other landmarks included Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye, Harrods, The Ritz - and the Piccadilly Circus Lights which hadn't been off since WW2The campaign generated extensive publicity, and was recognised with the following awards: The U.K Green Awards, The Sony Radio Academy Awards (winning Gold), The European Radio Awards, and The UK Radio Marketing Awards

Program Director, Nova 96.9 Fm Sydney

Dmg Radio Australia

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Nova launched in 2001 and later that year Scott was hired as Program Director. An overhaul was needed and, as Program Director, this fell largely on Scott's shoulders.Scott designed and led the new strategy and its "hand-stitched" execution, marketing, promotions, imaging, and onair talent - reporting directly to the C.E.O and the General Manager. Under Scott's direction this proved to be Nova 969’s most successful era, achieving:Grew audience share to 12.0%, winning 14 consecutive surveys as Sydney's #1 entertainment station, and #1 station overall (beating the usually dominant AM talk stations).Led Nova 96.9 to set records that remain unbeaten to this day: the most successful individual station in Commercial Radio Awards history for winning an unprecedented (and still unmatched) 9 Australian Commercial Radio Awards in 2004, and a further 8 in 2005.Awarded Australia’s “Best Program Director” at the 2004 Commercial Radio Awards.
