I am a teacher who loves to problem solve and help others to find their potential. I believe that everyone has value, and it is my hope for the people that I am in contact with to see that in themselves and others. I love working with technology, and have a knack for understanding software very quickly.I have guided and inspired children to act with integrity, learn from mistakes, and see difficult circumstances as opportunities to learn rather than reasons to be overly critical of themselves. I have taught students common core curriculum and used their individual learning styles to help them understand material conceptually. As an elementary school teacher, I acted as unofficial tech support for other teachers, helping them to connect and run various hardware and problem solve computer related issues. In the spring of 2019, I led the students to complete our first fully functional arcade cabinet from scratch, including the game that is inside it. We also hosted our first two Super Smash Bros. tournaments in the winter and spring. This endeavor has led to the creation of my county's first nationally competitive scholastic esports team using PlayVS. We won the Splatoon 3 championship for the Mid-Atlantic region in the fall 2023 season. We also were the runner up for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Eastern region. In the spring of 2024, Scott McCorkle's Liberty Buick-GMC Trucks joined us as a sponsor.Currently, I teach a certification course for Photoshop, Illustrator and Premier Pro. I teach a 3D modeling and animation certification course using 3D Studio Max. I also instruct my students in the art of game design and teach them how to utilize SCRUM through Jira as they form production teams their senior year.In 2024, I was honored to receive the CTE teacher of the year award for Union County Public Schools.
