Contracting Officer
CurrentExecutes contract awards and modifications for USGS program offices relating to science, IT, service, construction, and commodities. Provides assistance to mid-level personnel of the USGS in the analysis, planning and securing required approvals for acquisitions.Evaluates requests for procurement to determine whether the purchase description, statement of work, specifications, and drawings are sufficient to conduct an acquisition. Determines the most effective method of acquisition and effectiveness in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.Effects acquisition by negotiation, performing the full range of contract negotiation tasks for major actions. Serves as contracting officer with unlimited monetary authority to negotiate and execute contractual documents.Performs contract administration functions of major contracts, particularly those contracts involving complex forward price agreements and price revisions. Performs full range of contract termination functions for major and complex contracts. You will supervise and manage contract specialists, contracting officers, and procurement employees in their work assignments.Promotes teamwork and total quality customer service on a continuing basis. Motivates groups and individuals to establish goals.Makes decisions and recommendations on the interpretation and content of agency polices concerning management and development of interrelated procurement programs.
