As Global Co-Lead for Intellectual Property Litigation and Disputes at Accenture, my practice has focused on management of litigation and disputes, the analysis and protection of intellectual property, and the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.As a partner in the Intellectual Property Group of Kirkland’s Chicago office, my practice focused on litigation in the areas of patent, copyright, and related contractual issues. While at Kirkland, I represented and advised clients in matters involving diverse technologies, including biotech, medical devices, filtration systems, automotive service, printers, wireless networks, video games, packaging, and other consumer products. I also have represented and advised multiple clients in disputes related to recording contracts.I have significant experience in various aspects of litigation, including oral argument, trial preparation, fact investigation (including complex contract analysis), discovery (including taking and defending depositions), expert retention and management, claim construction, and motion practice. I also have significant experience negotiating contracts and settlements, as well as counseling clients on all aspects of intellectual property strategy and dispute resolution.Prior to law school, I worked as a production/design engineer for Welch Allyn/Medical Research Laboratories, a manufacturer of various defibrillators for hospitals and emergency medical services, as well as automated external defibrillators for private and commercial use. I also worked as an assembly & test/project engineer for Woodward Aircraft Engine Systems, a manufacturer of hydromechanical fuel controls for turbofan and turboprop aircraft engines.I am licensed to practice law in Michigan and Illinois. I am also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. I received my BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1998 and my JD, magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois in 2007.
