I help smallbusinesses take care of their books; prepare invoices, balance checkingaccounts, and pay the bills. Basically all the small business skills that I havebeen familiar with from running a small business for 15 years. Surprisinglyprofitable.

I purchased an internet coffee shop that was failing and turned it into atraditional coffee shop; bringing it back into profitability within threemonths. Managed 2-7 employees for 15 years; hired and fired employees,did background checks, assessed fitness for position, trained, and managedemployees while they worked at shop. Maintained business relationshipsbecoming the oldest account for Stumptown Coffee. Maintained all thebooks and records of the shop. Maintained all equipment, did all theshopping routinely picking up 50 lb boxes. Developed positive relationshipswith government and regulatory agency staff. Developed relationships withthe public providing a community meeting place in the Hollywood district,becoming a mentor to my staff, and a friend to my customers. I learned somuch from them all. 15 years is a long time.

Worked as a clerical assistant to the OSU College of Pharmacy at OHSU.Involved in various tasks; basic research, helping to grade tests, contactingpharmacies in order to place students. This position was originally foranother program that never got off the ground. I took it upon myself tolook for another position, but in the end decided to buy a coffee shop. Bestmove I ever made.

Committee Assistant 1999. I was an unassigned assistant working with manycommittees. Taking minutes, recording meetings, entering minutes into thelegislative record, taking committee votes, tracking amendments, helping toset up the calendar, preparing committee rooms both at the capital andaway, calling constituents informing them of meetings, proofreadingcommittee minutes. I really enjoyed working as a member of a team.
