Recent project experience includes:Tampa International Airport, Tampa, FL - I am the senior terminal planner responsible for facility programming and concept development for the 2012 TPA Master Plan Update. The project will reconfigure and expand the existing Terminal D adding larger gauge aircraft gates and updating restrooms, concessions and other passenger services to meet anticipated growth through 2026. I also served as a supervisor for the 2010 IAH Peak Week Study.Denver International Airport South Terminal Project, Denver, CO - I served as a technical advisor and airline liaison for the DIA South Terminal Redevelopment Program (STRP). I conducted quality management and design review processes for the multi-disciplined planning and design phase producing a Facility Validation report, Advanced Planning & Programming documents for the initial $1B-$2B programming/planning task through 2030. The project includes a LEED Silver on-airport hotel, arrivals/departure curbs, landside roadways, RTD light rail train station bringing commuters from downtown Denver, new terminal and concourses, a circulation plaza, and enhancements to the automatic people movers and reconfiguration of the existing Jeppesen terminal to maximize the capacity for long- term use.Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar - I am the PM leading a team developing the programming, planning, and conceptual design for a military passenger terminal and cargo marshaling facility.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
In June 2009 I became the Manager of Planning for the HNTB-led Joint Venture, Hartsfield Planning Collaborative, where I continued my work as an aviation architect and terminal planner for the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.A Sample of Significant Projects Conducted and/or Managed at Hartsfield-Jackson includes:Maynard Holbrook Jackson, Jr. International Terminal (MHJIT) – Managed development of program documents and concepts for MHJIT and revalidated the program requirements when a second designer was hired to complete the project. West Terminal Expansion – I managed several extensive terminal planning studies exploring expansion and renovation of the existing Main Terminal to accommodate passenger growth and a proposed new 70-gate South Gate complex. The study included extensive stakeholder involvement between DOA leadership, the airlines, and the Airline Master Plan Team (airline representatives), and various DOA business units (Concessions, Properties, Ground Transportation, Security, Landside Operations, Airside Operations, etc). Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) Update – I co-led the consultant planning team, and was responsible for organizing and editing the two-volume report. The study consisted of a consolidation of existing Airport planning efforts and additional investigation and study through working groups consisting of DOA business units, airlines, FAA, and the Airline Master Plan Team. The CDP Update explored options for expanding the airport to 250 gates, adding a 6th runway and a second end-around taxiway among other airfield improvements, reconfiguring the landside roadway network to meet future vehicular demand, new landside elements such as cell phone lots, replacement parking, commercial vehicle hold lots, and an enhanced ground transportation center, expansion of the existing terminal and AGTS, and numerous cargo and support facility improvements.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
I was the Deputy Manager of Planning for HNTB and the Joint Venture, Hartsfield Planning Collaborative, where I worked as an aviation architect and terminal planner as an extension of staff for the Department of Aviation at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. My duties included directly managing most terminal area projects and supervising joint venture teams on over 400 planning task orders. After the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, I was one of the few professionals at Hartsfield-Jackson who had previous experience with baggage screening systems and extensive security screening checkpoint design experience. I was enlisted as the DOA’s Program Manager for its 100% Hold Bag Screening (HBS) project. I also led the planning and design for all security screening checkpoint expansion and reconfiguration projects. In the early days of TSA’s development, I worked closely with the TSA to define processes and procedures for successfully establishing 100% baggage screening in the ticket lobbies and later for the Airport’s inline baggage screening systems. In 2006, I was asked to serve as an extension to the Department of Aviation (DOA) staff by filling an Interim Manager of Planning role for the DOA’s Terminal and Support Facilities group where I managed a half-dozen DOA terminal planners for 12 months.
