Member of the SURF team for the Trion project in deepwater Mexico, responsible for subsea controls and supporting multiple aspects and interfaces of a large complex development.The Shenzi Subsea Controls Upgrade (SSCU) was progressed from concept to field operation. The scope included design of a new MCS & EPU integrated into the topsides systems for control of new SCMs retrofitted to existing subsea infrastructure. The MCS duplicates the existing interlock and shutdown logic to ensure safe operation. The HMI was developed to match the legacy system allowing a technology upgrade while simplifying operability. The signal-on-power technology required Open Communication Hubs (OCH) as repeaters on the subsea umbilicals deployed as redundant pairs at existing SUTAs. Delivered multiple assemblies from Norway, UK and USA with onshore hardware and software integration in Houston. Pre-commissioning was achieved without disruption to production and final tie-in and commissioning was scheduled during an annual shutdown.Member of the Ruby project FEED as Phase 4 of Angostura asset in Trinidad & Tobago. This developed into a normally-unmanned Wellhead Protection Platform (WPP) controlled and monitored from the Central Processing Facility (CPP). Responsible for delivery of detailed spec for the subsea power umbilical and evaluating the resultant bids. Responsible for reviewing specs for the platform topsides including WHCP, MPFM, communications shelter, DHPT panel, TUTA, Nav Aids, chemical injection skid, integrated control and safety system, transformer, switchgear and MCC. In execute stage, following contract awards, delivered the power umbilical from Oceaneering followed by a seven week offshore campaign on McDermott’s DB50 to install the WPP jacket & topsides and the 6-mile umbilical. The testing, load-out and installation was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic with associated quarantines and restrictions to meet the HSE requirements of all parties.

Delivered & commissioned the direct hydraulic subsea control system for Angostura Phase 3 development in Trinidad & Tobago. This included 3 umbilicals and SUTAs (Oceaneering), a Wellhead Control Panel (Proserv), PLCs, software logic (UPI) and a DHPT assembly, chemical distribution and managed all interfaces with the existing platforms and subsea instruments on the Dril-Quip trees. The extended installation campaign on the normally-unmanned Aripo platform and MIC vessels (EMAS) was conducted over nine months including training of the operators and support for start-up.Provide support for Macedon, Angostura and Shenzi subsea assets and project teams as required.Plan, coordinate and execute specific subsea equipment packages as directed. Execution includes all aspects from FEED engineering through installation & commissioning. Responsible for producing all package related technical deliverables and also for procurement and contracting support. Assist in the evaluation of package design, fabrication, testing and installation contracts. Promote a risk based approach to project design & execution, including participation in hazard assessments, audits and project HSE Cases.

It also had a heavy travel requirement primarily to Germany for build & test, UK for umbilicals and meters, Perth for onshore (topsides) liaison, Indonesia for SRTs and vessel load-out to McDermott and finally NW Australia for installation & commissioning through 2013.

Generated structural designs including selection of valves, FA, umbilical cable sizing, dwgs, storyboards, fab and procurement plans, test procedures and cost estimates. Supported a brief study for gas production/off-loading for a confidential client.Modified field layout concepts for Chevron Gendalo-Gehem-Ranggas off Indonesia with a cost estimate. Passed to the team prior to the start of FEED work in-country.Conducted a study for Husky Energy (via IMVPA) for White Rose asset off Newfoundland. This included six weeks in St John’s during winter 2008/2009 leading up to final presentation. The study reviewed field architecture and production options for North Amethyst production center and made clear recommendations for future expansion and developments.Responsible for spec, tender and delivery of subsea umbilicals (OIE) and subsea controls (FMC) for the Callon Entrada 4-well oil and gas tie-back to Conoco Magnolia TLP including the installation contract (Subsea 7).
