Responded to cardiac resuscitation and trauma codes, as well as other medical emergencies within the emergency department and medical center. Assisted physicians and nurses by performing CPR and maintaining oxygenation, placing patients on the heart monitor, wound care, applying wound dressings, preparing procedure trays, applying cardboard, plaster, fiberglass and emergency splints (Sager and Hare Traction), performed EKGs, patient transportation, phlebotomy, glucose accuchecks with glucometer, taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature and pulse oximetry), assisted the RN in triage with patient intake, forms, collecting vitals, obtaining patient weights and making basic assessments, etc. Also sorted and distributed files and records, performed computer order entry, inventoried and stocked supplies and performed basic equipment maintenance.
