My research has mainly dealt with cellular stress response and the regulation of DNA repair in relation to mechanisms of aging. Specific processes examines include cellular senescence, autophagy, mitochondrial bioenergetics, and malignant transformation. I have worked with various human cells lines, cohort studies and with mouse models, including the long-lived Snell dwarf mouse. I have had a passion for aging research for many years.

Postdoctoral FellowNational Institutes Of Health Jun 2005 - Dec 2009Summary: Designed and carried out in vivo and in vitro tests for oxidative DNA damage processing and mitochondrial functions in human tissue. Achievements:Demonstrated that DNA repair proteins Rad52 and OGG1 interact in vivo physically and functionally. Demonstrated that human embryonic stem cells have enhanced repair efficiency -
Postdoctoral FellowUniversity Of Michigan Cancer Center Jun 2003 - Jun 2005Summary:Investigated genetic determinants of reduced stress sensitivity and delayed growth arrest in cells from long-lived Snell dwarf mice. Achievements: Showed that fibroblasts from long-lived Snell dwarf mice have enhanced cell cycle progression and resistance to oxidative damage and senescence-associated growth arrestProvided data showing that reduced hsp-70 level is a marker for reduced stress sensitively in long-lived Snell dwarf mice
