Led a team of 8-10 employees, including market risk and reporting, analytics, and controls. Developed a dynamic commodity hedging strategy incorporating the relationship between our generation assets and our retail portfolio. Oversaw the implementation of a new ETRM system and the development of tools to support Executive decision making, including margin-at-risk models and the valuation of a variety of retail, wholesale, and generating products.

Held roles of increasing responsibility covering the company’s North American gas and power trading, Alberta gas production, Texas power generation, and Canadian gas retail operations. Led teams of 3 to 11 employees in Calgary and Houston to produce daily, weekly, and monthly risk reports and analysis of positions, mark-to-market (MTM), and value-at-risk (VaR) for the trade floor and senior management.

Consulted on a variety of pension plans by analyzing the current plan, researching the objectives and making recommendations for changes based on regulations while still ensuring there is value added for the employee and cost effectiveness to the employer. Performed all aspects of actuarial valuations on defined benefit plans, including writing valuation reports, performing complex benefit programming, gain/loss analysis, and data audit and review.
