Scott Selby is a Software Developer at US Bank at U.S. Bank. Colleagues describe him as "Scott and I are co-workers on the Multi-Service Aviation Development team at U.S. Bank. I joined the team in April, 2018. Scott was my mentor and supported my transition into the team from a previous internal position. My initial assignment was to research and migrate a large feature from a legacy application into a new application. Scott is friendly, patient, kind, and supportive. He ensured that he was available to provide guidance and answer questions as needed. The Java code that had been generated from the Oracle Forms legacy application was not simple or easy to translate. He was instrumental in preparing me to successfully interpret and debug the legacy code. In addition, Scott is very organized, thorough, and meticulous. He excelled at capturing complex functionality in the legacy application and transferring it to the new application. He translated similar features into re-usable classes and methods. This simplified the process of adding similarly-designed features and reduced code duplication. He volunteers to research and fulfill multi-faceted ad-hoc requests for various departments. He often grooms stories in our Agile backlog without prompting. This usually involves detailed research. Scott’s greatest strength is his mastery of Oracle database concepts. He is skilled at researching, designing, and building elaborate scripts, views, triggers, and stored procedures. This includes work with Hibernate classes requiring multiple joins and compound keys. When necessary, I reach out to Scott for assistance and review of any database work that I perform. He provides excellent feedback and is adept at identifying and resolving issues. Due to his support, my depth of knowledge has increased dramatically. I enjoy working with Scott and I hope that I continue to have the opportunity to work with him in the future."
