The agency is a product of our combined experience, beliefs and belligerence!Prior to founding Brand Culture I worked in agencies across B2B and B2C clients for a number of years. It was helping Walt Disney Studios develop their brand partnerships in particular that taught me much about the brand-consumer dynamic - and how this changes when the brand truly creates emotional resonance. I broke from agency life in 1999 and, with the vision of establishing the first online stockbroker in the UK, co–founded Easybroker. I could write a book on what we learnt in those 'dotcom boom and bust' years! I left Easybroker to start Brand Culture with Michael because we felt we could offer something original in approach, yet obvious in purpose: we believed that businesses could sell more when they mean more to their customers. So we conducted a significant research programme into the role of emotion in decision making, both b2c and b2b, and from that built an intuitive philosophy. We were ahead of the curve: touting increased emotional engagement through branded content before the terms even existed; using the word ‘storytelling’ as an early prelude to the industry embracing it; and insisting that b2b brands should connect with individual desires, not just the needs of the businesses they work at.
