Led a team of 10 reporters and three editors that served as the front line on all things breaking news for the D-FW area. In its first year under Scott's leadership, the DMN's breaking news team earned 2nd place in the National Headliner Awards in the "Breaking News in daily newspapers, all sizes" category for its coverage of a shooting at Dallas Love Field Airport in 2022. In Year 2, it was honored as the DMN's "Innovators of the Year" and also earned Finalist recognition in Poynter's Journalism Excellence Prizes in the Deborah Howell Award for Writing Excellence category for work on the Allen Outlet Mall mass shooting. The team also earned 2nd place in the Texas Managing Editors awards for Star Breaking News Report for its coverage of the Allen Outlet Mall mass shooting.Scott also served as the Dallas Morning News' interim public safety editor in 2024, responsible for the oversight of all things public-safety related in the D-FW area, including cops, crime and both local and federal courts.
