Scott D. Pollock's legal practice includes all areas of immigration law and procedure, including immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, political asylum, deportation/removal defense, waivers of inadmissibility, employment authorization and employer compliance/sanctions, appeals and litigation. He is a frequent speaker on immigration topics. His clients include universities, religious organizations, financial, manufacturing, health care and high tech companies, and individuals. He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys variety and challenges. His firm’s mission is to provide personal and effective legal service, to master complex U.S. immigration laws and procedures, and to identify strategies and achieve the goals of its clients, while contributing to the progressive advancement of the profession and immigration law.

He has contributed articles to AILA’s annual Immigration & Nationality Handbook on the F-1 and H-1B visa categories, obtaining agency records, employment authorization options for students and exchange visitors, responding to complex requests for evidence, lawful status and unlawful presence, and counseling corporate clients on employment options of F-1 and J-1 nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors. He contributed two articles published in AILA’s Immigration Options for Religious Workers (2nd Ed. 2010) and a case study on Nonprofit Affiliation with an Institution of Higher Education to Establish H-1B Cap Exemption in AILA’s Immigration Options for Academics and Researchers (2nd Ed. 2011). He currently serves on AILA’s Students and Scholars committees. He previously served as AILA’s Chicago Chapter chair (1997-98), a member of its Nebraska Service Center Liaison (1999-2000), national chairperson of its Consumer Protection/Authorized Representation Task Force (1995-97), a member of AILA’s Consumer Protection (2003-2004), Business Immigration Litigation (2009-2010) and Federal Litigation Task Force (2011-12) committees, and on numerous local chapter committees, including chairperson of its Asylum Office (2002-03) and Immigration Judge (2004-2006) liaison committees.

Served as principal officer of the Executive Board. Ran monthly meetings, ensured proper functioning and accounting for all chapter activities, planned and oversaw continuing legal education programs including the annual Midwest Regional Conference.

Program director of multi-office legal services program addressing the needs of immigrants and refugees affected by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Oversee and direct activities of attorneys and legal assistants in Cook and Lake Counties, to provide legal counsel, representation and appeals.
