Some elements of Kaizen were employed in the DPM system.I managed the move of this factory from Phoenix Industrial Park to Glen Anil. I was involved in managing the tear down, move and reassembly of a 100m3 epoxy coating batch oven and aluminium casting plant to new premises. I organised the relocation and commissioning of the entire production line, including electrical power requirements. Setting up of 10 TIG welding stations with piped in Argon and recirculating cooling water.I was also involved in training up new staff at all levels to be proficient in the skills we required. We had a continuous education school running to teach unskilled people the skills we required in our production line. The skills we taught were TIG welding, grinding, die casting, powder coating and pre-treatment, filing, drilling, lathe work, spray painting, mechanical saw work, hydraulic press operation, safety, AIDS and HIV awareness, weaving and packaging.
