Senior Software Engineer
Senior Full Stack Developer - Team Lead
Senior Automation Developer
Freelance Programmer
Automation Specialist Ii
- Continued performing all duties as a Automation Specialist I. Worked on the same projects and carried the same responsibilities.- Added Town of Lutcher WTP, Jefferson Parish lift station ozone upgrade, Belle Chase WTP UV upgrade, USACE New Orleans Outfall Canal Permanent Pump Stations, and various design and programming projects in gas & oil, water/wastewater treatment assigned from HQ office in Louisville .- Obtained VTScada certification.
Automation Specialist I
- Physical and electrical panel design for PLC's, operator control panels, and junction boxes based on customer specifications. Includes generating BOM's and physical and electrical CAD drawings. My drawings were submitted to our CAD department for official release of draft and final revisions.- PLC/SCADA programming and HMI layout based on customer requirements. Used RSLogix 500 and 5000, Unity XL, CitectSCADA, Vijeo Designer, VTScada, FactoryTalk SE and ME, InduSoft Web Studio, Ignition, iFix, Wonderware, and InTouch.- Provided network infrastructure planning for SCADA backend, including ethernet and wireless.- Programmed custom Java and .NET Framework software to provide additional troubleshooting tools using well-known protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.) and SQL servers.- One of my primary areas of responsibility was the maintenance and upgrade of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) pump stations PLC/SCADA systems. Both the New Orleans Outfall Canals at the 17th Street, Orleans, and London canals. CitectSCADA and Unity XL were used for SCADA and PLC programming. Each of the dozens of pumps per station were controlled by DirectLOGIC PLC's and various RS485-to-fiber converters. Cisco 3750 switches and Cisco 5505 firewall/routers were used throughout the canal system, connected by fiber and Metro-E.- Other primary area of responsibility was the largest pump station on earth, the USACE GIWW-WCC. FactoryTalk View SE and ME and RSLogix 5000 were used for SCADA and PLC programming. Hirschmann switches were used throughout the facility network and programmed with CLI.- Obtained Hirschmann HiRS, HiBS, and Hipp certifications.- Obtained CitectSCADA VCCE certification.- Other projects included SCADA for Jefferson Parish East bank WWTP, Jefferson Parish drainage pump stations, Baton Rouge waste lift stations, New Orleans Youth Study Center, and San Antonio Leon Creek WWTP.- Trained technicians in electrical troubleshooting, programming, and design.
Test Team Leader
- Supervised and trained teams of jet engine test technicians. Those technicians were responsible for providing the same services I did previously as a Jet Engine Test Technician. Lockheed Martin was our labor contractor.- Conducted and coordinated various turbofan tests for development research and certification with the FAA, EASA, Airbus, Boeing, and BMW/Rolls-Royce.- During test I supervised the engine driver, bookman, and dynamic data system engineers. The supervision included following test procedures at various engine speeds, environmental conditions, timed events, and equipment operation.- Engine testing was the primary focus of the facility, but ~85% of the work was spent preparing the engine and facility for the next test, or packaging an engine for transport post test.- Supervised scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the engines and facility. The environment was extremely dynamic, as testing depended on so many variables, so quite often work was unscheduled.- Coordinated testing and maintenance with engineers in Derby, England. Our data was transmitted, real-time, to performance engineers for analysis.- I personally programmed the first ever turbofan test cell simulator, using the .NET Framework (WCF, WPF, and SQL). I designed and built it to be used as a training aide to train crews to test the engines without having to risk damage to a real engine. I presented it to the RR executives in Derby, England and it was commissioned shortly after. All code was from scratch and included a calculated turbofan with visual gauges and an interactive throttle.- Designed and built a oil replenishment skid that filled the engine oil tank. The skid interfaced to the facility PLC for remote operation and tracking of how much oil has been used over time.- I was responsible for collecting and calculating the engine emissions for each test. I then compiled those numbers into a report for submission to the state and federal environmental agencies.
Rolls-Royce Jet Engine Test Team Technician
- Primary objective was ground testing of Rolls-Royce development turbofan jet engines for improvement and certification on a 1,000,000 sq ft facility. Included Trent 900 (Airbus A380), Trent 1000 (Boeing 787), Trent XWB (Airbus A350 XWB), and BR725 (Gulfstream G650) engines.- During test I was an engine driver (throttle controller/engine monitor) or bookman (data collector). Both Rolls-Royce terms for test operator positions. Frequently rotated positions among test crew to level experience.- Maintained and programmed engine and facility PLC/SCADA/DAS/DDS systems. 12 PLC-5 racks used as engine PLC and 7 ControlLogix racks used as facility PLC. FactoryTalk SE and ME, Wonderware InTouch used for HMIs. ProDAS, a proprietary DAS system, used to coordinate all PLC/SCADA and DDS systems. Ancillary equipment used SLC-50 and Micrologix controllers, integrated to main PLC with DeviceNet, ControlNet, RS232/RS485, Modbus, Profibus, TCP/UDP, and wireless.- Maintained and programmed Oracle, MSSQL, and MySQL databases used by the SCADA, DAS, and DDS systems.- Programmed custom software using the .NET Framework that interfaced with the PLC/SCADA/DAS/DDS systems using proprietary TCP/UDP real-time protocols, SQL, and XML data interfaces.- Assembled and maintained turbofans before, during, and after testing. Included adding, replacing, inspecting, and repairing engine parts from every section of the engines. Fluid sampling and borescoping were route tasks.- Provided calibration of facility measurement channels and equipment.- Instrumentation was key to acquiring test results, so we routinely added, replaced, and removed instruments and sensors. Examples are strain-gauges, pressure transducers, thermocouples, accelerometers, and load-cells. Instrumentation was connected to a multiplexer device that transmitted the signals to the DAS system for data acquisition.- All areas of the facility were maintained by 9 crew members, selected from 250 candidates.
Senior Calibration Technician Ii
- Equipment and instrument calibration following written and automated procedures.-
Avionics Calibration Technician
- Same responsibilities and rank as my Active Duty time from 1999 to 2004.- Supervised 30 - 40 junior Marines.- Coordinated closely with administration Marines for time-tracking, equipment supply, medical, and time-off of junior Marines.
Avionics Calibration Technician
- Followed calibration procedures to calibrate equipment in all disciplines of metrology using standards traceable to NIST.- Wrote and maintained Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Assurance Manuals, and Safety and Security Manuals.- Supervised and trained junior Marines (up 25 Marines) to become the next generation of senior calibration technicians. Included counselling, inspecting, and disciplining of junior Marines.- Achieved rank of Sergeant.- Quality Assurance Representative for last 2 years of enlistment, responsible for lab Quality Assurance and audit preparation.- In charge of lab Safety and Security. Ensured lab environment was safe and secure, and that personnel where conducting safe work practices.
