As a Foreign Area Officer for Northeast Asia and Regional Affairs Officer for Southeast Asia, I served as the designated subject matter expert in the political and military affairs of China, Korea, Japan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand. During this time I also planned and flew international training exercises throughout Asia with various allied nations. I was competitively selected for this position based on experience, language ability in Mandarin Chinese, and cultural knowledge.

As an F/A-18 Instructor Pilot, I flew over 1,100 hours in high performance military aircraft (F/A-18A-D, T-45C, T-6B, T-34C), while instructing the next generation of fighter pilots. When not flying, I led a technological modernization of the squadron's operations department, which resulted in a 2x increase in scheduling efficiency and a 30x increase in forecasting abilities. I also supervised the Aviation Life Support and Quality Assurance divisions, ensuring that the squadron was able to safely conduct its mission in all environments.
