I support the Veritas NetBackup product line. I primarily work on customers' escalated support cases. I help customers design test scenarios to trouble shoot problems within the NetBackup applications and the underlying computer infrastructure that those applications run upon. NetBackup runs on AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris and Windows in turn of hardware architectures. I help make Fibre, SCSI, and ACSLS robotic libraries and the tape drives inside them work with NetBackup. I assist customers in isolate network problems affecting NetBackup's operations that lie within the public and backup networks used by the NetBackup master, media, and client hosts. My troubleshooting foci within the NetBackup product are the NetBackup for Microsoft SQL Server, and NetBackup for Oracle agents. I thoughtfully help customers recover critical systems.I handle politically sensitive situations with care and delicacy. I work to clarify expectations and design clear plans for success that all stakeholder can agree upon, then make sure the plan is executed.Additionally I help our frontline technicians. I provide instant message feedback to our engineers surrounding various issues affecting NetBackup. I prepare and deliver training materials surrounding the NetBackup for SQL and Oracle operations within NetBackup. Materials highlighting pre-requisites, configuration, operations, and troubleshooting of backup, restore, and maintenance operations.When bugs are found within NetBackup I help gather crash dumps and file bug reports with our engineering team. I help analyze the situations surround how the cores were generated, by anaylzing the stack traces and reconciling application and operating system log files to better understand failures and arrive at fixes as quickly as possible.I put forth innovative ideas and work with product management to better understand the needs of customers so as to design different ways for our product to protect and manage their data.

I serve the technical support team which supports Symantec's Veritas NetBackup products. In doing so I coach team members on how to be more effective using a combination of soft skills and troubleshooting methods (Kepner-Tregoe). Additionally I'm take ownership of support cases which have been escalated to the highest level of support. If necessary I will engage our engineering group to address software bugs and customer software enhancement requests.

I supported NetBackup 5.x, 6.x and 7.x. Assisting customers in implementing backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning. In general configuring and performing backups and restores from tape, and de-duplicated disk technology. I focused on backing up and restoring Microsoft SQL and Oracle server using both MSCS and RAC clustering.

I held a few positions during my tenure at Visi (Vector Internet Services Inc.), I started as a support engineer on the phones, helping customers configure DSL routers and email clients on a variety of different OS types and email applications. I moved into a lead support position, and then into an administrator role, and finally into a developer role.
