Senior Program Manager, First Jobs Access And Success
CurrentGet Schooled is a national education non-profit that supports young people in getting to college, getting a first job and succeeding in both. As a Senior Program Manager, I lead Get Schooled’s efforts to support young people as they prepare for, find, and succeed in their ‘first’ jobs. This includes crafting and executing our young adult (ages 16-24) engagement strategy around early career pathways, including building and managing relationships with CBOs, regional partners, companies and national associations. In addition, my role involves developing content and resources, and working with Get Schooled’s communications team to develop both organic outreach strategies, and creating and executing targeted campaigns and events.
Project Manager
The Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County (WDC) is a nonprofit workforce grant-making organization whose mission is to support a strong economy and ensure the ability of each person to achieve self-sufficiency. The WDC oversees WorkSouce, a network of employment centers and sites; funds youth programs focused on academic achievement, work experience, and career exploration; and is a thought-leader and convener related to sector strategies, research, and innovation. As a Project Manager, I oversaw the youth and young adult portfolio for the WDC. Specifically, the WDC seeks to provide resources and services to “Opportunity Youth” (people aged 16-24 who are not in school and out of work). My management portfolio includes procurement of service providers through competitive grant procedures for funds allocated to Washington state through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), contract negotiations, programmatic oversight and accountability and reporting in accordance with federal and state mandates. WIOA Youth contracts includes both in-school and out-of-school youth and represents an investment of more than $1.5 million annually in the youth employment system throughout King County. Additionally, I provide management for youth-focused projects that are procured through competitive grants on a local, state and federal level which is an investment of an $1+ millions annually including grants related to expanding apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship pathways for young people. In this role, I previously provided leadership and oversight on contracts and grants related to adult and dislocated workers, immigrants and refugees, justice-system involved youth and adults, and increasing the efficiency of secondary degree completion through prior learning assessments. This portfolio included oversight of 17 service providers across seven projects with a combined budget of more than $4 million.
