“Black Boxes" at NTSB.I am currently employed at the National Transportation Safety Board in the Vehicle Recorder Laboratory under the Office of Research and Engineering. I lead a small team of engineers who specialize in data recovery of both traditional crash protected data recorders and unique electronic devices.I launch with the "Go Team" to most major accidents and I work investigations of all modes, aviation, maritime, rail, highway and pipeline.I am an instrument rated pilot who flies regularly for personal transportation and enjoyment. Additionally, I hold a USCG Mariner's Credential for vessels to 100 gross tons. I am also currently a student pilot of rotorcraft (helicopters). I am an experimental aircraft owner and homebuilder. I am currently building a Vans RV-14, and also co-own a Christen Eagle II.
