The project I am most proud of during my last year at UC Santa Cruz was working on a React web application for a non-profit organization named Clean Oceans International. The website allows users to submit and analyze data on plastics found on their local beaches. I fixed bugs in the API for the database, updated their website, designed automated tests, and documented the code. I brought considerable passion to this product, knowing that it will allow scientists to determine if new recycling methods are effective in keeping plastics from getting to the ocean. I am motivated by projects that will positively impact on the world, which is why I am so interested in technology.I have a lot of hands-on experience, see the Skills section below. I have just completed a Springboard course where I improved my skills in JavaScript, Python, React, and Node.js, and developed new skills such as SQL, PostgreSQL, jQuery, Bootstrap, Flask, and Redux. During the course, I built to full-stack websites from scratch using the technologies covered in the course.In addition to my technical skills, I also have great skills working with people. In the summer of 2017, I interned at iD Tech Camps as an instructor. I taught eight week-long programming courses to children. On some of the weeks, I taught JavaScript, and on other weeks I taught Tynker or Scratch to younger students. During this internship, I needed to maintain high levels of energy and ensure that all of the students were engaged in the material. As part of my internship at Western Digital during the summer of 2019, I designed and gave a presentation to the application team on how Docker works. Finally, I collaborated with three other students on the Clean Oceans International project I worked on at the end of my senior year, where we used Scrum practices.Right now I am searching for an opportunity as a junior software developer to use my skills to continue making a positive impact on the world.
