Brock University Students' Union

• Managed an annual operating budget of $9.8 million• Successfully negotiated three transit contracts, for net benefit of $5.8 million, by utilizing a distributive negotiation strategy, and conducting research to identify government subsidies for transit, as well as accurate per hour costs for the various authorities.• Saved a substantive amount for the student Health and Dental Plan in three months by establishing a partnership with Shoppers Drug Mart which will save money for BUSU over the next three years. • Achieved a verbal agreement, as recorded in a public session of the Board of Trustees, from the University to construct a $30 million facility to expand existing BUSU space which will provide students with 62,000 square foot structure containing new retail, club space, a media centre, as well as additional office space for BUSU to name a few.• Redeveloped the organization’s internal structure, significantly increasing BUSU’s capacity to generate more research, maintain a relevant and recognizable brand, and allow for more opportunities for high-level direction.• Articulated BUSU’s one-year tactical objectives, priorities, and political stances to 16 different committees, protecting students from items like work stoppages, poor academic quality, and continually asserting students as a relevant stakeholder in all strategic decisions.• Initiated and oversaw the transition of BUSU’s finances from one bank to another and the reinvestment of BUSU’s long-term capital and operational surpluses into a portfolio better suited to the organization.• Primary planner for an undergraduate business incubator, to be situated within the new building, which shall provide future students with pathways to careers as entrepreneurs.
