As a Technical Principal, I lead teams with humour, humility and candour, using technology to solve business problems. I use the pull of motivation to help engineering teams collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and solve problems, preferably at the root, setting a high bar for excellence in our solutions.In client engagements, I focus on rapidly building relationships and trust to solve underlying problems, and not just what is initially articulated, balancing my inherent love for technology with a clear-eyed understanding of its raison d'être - that it exists to solve business problems, both current and into the future.Over the years, as a sponsor and cultivator, I have coached and mentored more junior engineers, helping them grow their technical and non-technical skills in a direction that matches their aspirations. I have also represented them at promotion panels to help with more formal career progression.As an experienced technical architect, I have a diverse breadth of experience that spans the gamut of creating new architectures, evolving and migrating legacy systems to AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud platforms, setting up and refining architectural governance functions, and seeing things through to production. I have setup and run AWS study groups to help other engineers get certified, in the process personally gaining certifications in solutions architecture and security.I have infrastructure engineering experience on all major cloud platforms. And for over a decade before that, I was a polyglot applications engineer, developing solutions on both Java and Microsoft platforms against a variety of databases.
