Having left school in 1995 to become an electrical apprentice, I have progressed through the electrical engineering department working within the mining industry. I have spent the last 11 years as a senior electrical supervisor, I am authorised to work on, and plan for others to work on electrical systems up to 6600v, as well as working on PLC and control systems. My role has allowed me to become fully conversant with operating permit to work systems, developing risk assessments, managing and organising planned preventative maintenance schemes, producing and auditing methods of work, all whilst working within a strict framework of government legislation policed by the Health and safety executive.Although my background is predominantly electrically biased I have a very good understanding of mechanical engineering including working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems. I am very comfortable fault finding on mechanical equipment as my subsequent roles have involved me installing, testing and commissioning power and control systems for heavy duty equipment such as conveyors drives and high tech mining machinery.Since taking up my role of senior supervisor at the age of 25, I have been involved in design, planning, supervision, installation and commissioning of numerous very large projects, where the high pressure mining environment requires projects to be completed safely, on budget and on time. Whilst working on these projects I have been required to work very closely with other departments within my own organisation, as well as working with outside companies to ensure that all systems integrated smoothly, and if required finding solutions to engineering problems I am level headed, highly motivated person with good leadership and teamwork skills, I am a lateral thinker with the ability to remain calm in pressurised situations where the correct decision requires making swiftly, I am highly adaptable with a perfect attendance record. I hold a N.E.B.O.S.H. certificate
