Workday OMS (Object Management Service) is the very heart of Workday core applications, by providing platform capability for a distributed system with high availability. I have led several teams in Pleasanton and Dublin Ireland in the following areas* Instance Model supporting semantics of the data in memory and on disk* Data Conversion services for application upgrade without the maintenance window* Persistence layer for abstraction of the data storage technology* Tenant Lifecycle for weekly platform upgrade capability* Component Runtime, reactive dependency injection framework and runtime, for OMS services working together forming a highly-concurrent, distributed and component-based applications.Achievements:* Worked with key architects in the organization to form the technical vision for how different parts of Workday core platform can evolve with the Workday core architecture while maintaining service SLA with agility.* Built team from 4 engineers to 9 engineers in one year. Led the hiring effort in the organization, established hiring process and multiple channels to source talents in the market.* Led the initiative to transform a critical platform upgrade service to a distributed parallel service that improves the processing throughput to 100 times.* Formalized the operation of on-call and support for weekly platform upgrade. Through partnership, cross training, and new platform capability, reduced escalation frequency from 3-4 times a week to once every other week, and identified common cases and reduced the time-to-recover from 90 minutes to 10 minutes.

DevOps applications include three major category: functional testing, performance testing, and collaboration tools. As of 2013, the functional testing application uses an internal cloud to manage and analyze 8 million Guidewire tests every day. The performance testing manages a pool of application server, database and load machine with certain performance specifications, and enable the performance engineers to initiate 500 performance runs and analysis with a click of button every month. In charge of the development and maintenance for an online auction site for heavy equipment. The site offers live audio streaming and provides tool for our bidders to interact with our customer and conduct proxy bidding.* Supported the VP of Engineering by setting the product feature map and testing plan. Built the development team with designer and tester. Set strategy for implementation, UI design and testing so that each member can effectively organize himself/herself around the team goal.* Solved the obstacles set by the outsourcing companies and insisted on milestones with live demos. Used the opportunity of live demo to obtain the binary, decompiled the code to assess the design quality of the product and made termination recommendation to the VP of Engineering.

I started working on the password encryption piece that is written in VC++. I learned about Sybase tuning, RPG on AS/400 and figured out the integration components between the two. After writing the missing documentation on the integration between the two system, I identified and made improvement in a critical area, resulting the processing time to less than one tenth of the original time.
